Monthly Update: December
November’s Goals: feel more comfortable in awkward situations, work on creative block… Okay, so November didn’t go as well as I’d hoped, but I feel like I’m still on “the right track.”

And now for a quick update…

1. ‘tis the season to feel the negative pressure from society for being single, yay! cuddling couples, decorated trees, gift-giving, snuggling, holding hands, kissing in the park, ahhh! is it too much to ask to enjoy oneself with a little Charlie Brown tree without feeling like a complete loser? No presents, but lots of candy. No snugging, but can hog all the sheets & pillows. No compromised-movie watching, but all the Star Wars and Elf I can get! No “oh, I’ll only have two slices,” but rather eating a whole pizza & breadsticks. I’m on a tangent, but I know that half of you reading this get what I’m saying, and thank you for listening…as for the rest of you, mind my bitterness, you are probably in a happy relationship & don’t understand “being single” anymore…and I digress, again.
2. I…ah, fuck it. It’s the last month of this blog and I’ve got to figure out if I want to continue with this blog “365” day thing, but change the content? or do something different? Suggestions?
3. More goals: I want to decorate my apartment for realz (posters, artwork, photos, a work-desk, etc.) I want to rid of stuff I brought from my dad’s that I don’t need or use anymore, a “spring cleaning” …so to speak. I want to start working on cosplaying and doing more mixed-media work, I think that will help the “creative block” thing more so than anything.
4. If anyone has some “tips” on keeping busy or staying focused, I’d love to hear your thoughts; working 6 days a week seems to have made me lazy on my days off…
5. Biggest thing, I want to stop worrying about how much money I have/make and I want to finally start having a saving account. I’m not sure if it’s because I’m not working enough, if I need to take on some freelance projects, or just figuring out how to save more of the money that comes in. If anyone wants to give their “adult advice” on how I can be more “adult like” — feel free to send me a message, I’m kinda desperate to not have “money issues” my #1 stress.
6. And lastly — I’m trying to stay positive, motivated, and productive. yay, ha!

Also, isn’t Elvira so cute in a lil Christmas-pinup outfit? heh, and, I’m holding my new catwoman PEZ from Aaron, eeeeee!

p.s. send me suggestions for alternate Christmas movies/shows to watch! I would like to be in the “spirit of things,” but can’t watch too many “mushy-gushy” stuff, ya dig? ;)

Monthly Update: November

October Goals: wear an awesome Halloween costume, attend an epic Halloween party, watch a scary movie, be more open with the people who actually care, break my creative block (still working on), become more comfortable in social situations that I’m not used to (still working on).

Now, onto this month’s goals…

1. Keep working on being more social in “awkward” situations or uncomfortable situations where I don’t know very many people. This seems to be one of those goals that could be accomplished over a few months, not just one :)
2. Keep working on “creative block” — try to find different artistic outlets again: writing, sewing/cosplaying, reading, photographing, mixed-media…

Monthly Update: October

1. This month is geared toward goal-setting & obtaining. I’m determined to change with the Autumn weather, since it is my favorite season of the year. I want to be better for it and myself :)
2. First, I want a super awesome Halloween costume (whether it be the comic version of Catwoman, Vader, or something else) and I want to attend a lot of parties. That might be the easiest goal I obtain, but I’m okay with that.
3. I want to start being more open about my emotions and how I am really feeling. This is going to be the most difficult goal, but I gots some peps in my life that are cheering me on :)
4. I want to create some serious art pieces, including design work, arts&crafts, and mixed-media pieces. When I find myself just watching some tv, I need to have a sketchbook in front of me. Done and done.
5. I want to be more comfortable being social and also when I’m not being social. This might not make sense, but I want to be more okay with going to see a movie by myself (alone, all by my lonesome) and I want to be better at being social around a group I’m not so familiar with. This is embarrassing for me to admit, but I’m ready to fix it!

Monthly Update: September

• I’ve been going through some rough patches this past month, but I think I’m finally “seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.”
• I have a big announcement coming up, it’s something from my creative life :)
  (EDIT: I am now a Graphic Designer for Alamo Drafthouse!!!!) 
• I’ve been super inspired lately — it’s exciting and things are about to start happening in my personal ‘art world.’
• I have this little bench now in my “art corner” and it’s the best place to chill and read, I’ve been really needing a nook and I just found it.
• I’m really happy, no matter what else is trying to bring me down. I haven’t been this happy in awhile.
• (above) I literally just came back from an amazing show at Hole in the Wall and Shakey Graves was so amazing!!! (thanks for inviting me out, Arielle!)

Monthly Update: August

• The Dark Knight Rises is like Magic Mike for me, I’m just saying.
• I had to cut down my internship to a day a week (mondays) so that I could work more during the week (yeah, know rent and stuff, haha!)
• I have a new roomie, her name’s Arielle and she works with me at Alamo and she’s moving in very very soon, it’s quite excite!
• I’m not making time for people who are deadbeats in my life. I’m tired of “drama” and unreasonable/unwanted stress :)
• Also, I’m kinda in a financial bind, so I’ll be selling some of my art pieces soon — please let me know if you are interested in purchasing something or contracting me out for any art or design work, yay!
• Lastly, on top of reading way “too many” comics now, I’ve been watching so much old school stuff like Batman: The Animated Series, hence the above picture, haha

Monthly Update: July

• I’ve been reading a lot of Catwoman comics lately (above is the latest new 52 series) and I’m about to venture into Batman Year One and Gotham City Sirens (Catwoman, Poison Ivy, and Harley Quinn.)
• I’ve got The Amazing Spider-Man stuck in my head. I’m not quite sure why I am so infatuated with that movie.
• I’m still going/enjoying my wonderful Alamo internship.
• Last weekend I worked 30 hours, I expect the same or more next weekend — this is good news, people :)
• I’ve been dealing with a lot of stuff lately. Boo.
• I really wanna snug with someone. Dang it.
• I need to start working out and sketching, but I still don’t have my art supplies here. Anybody willing to help a little lady get some art things from her dad’s casa in the next week or two? I think I’ll start feeling better once I have those things here. Maybe work on decorating the apartment more too, lol

Monthly Update: June

1. I got my fox-hawk back and I love it, obviously.
2. I started working on “bigger and better” projects at my internship.
3. I’ve got Mondays and Wednesdays off now.
4. I’m starting to redefine some aspects of my life right now.
5. I’m still very single, and I’m very okay with that.
   
   EDIT: I’m not really sure I’m okay with the “single” thing,
   but I’m just going to keep telling myself that :) 

I thought today would be best for my “monthly update,” since of course it’s may the fourth be with you :)

Monthly Update: May

1. I’m twenty-three now, yay! (And, Kelly’s 22nd is the 18th this month!)
2. I will finally have a day off next Wednesday, because I should be all done with my filing job by the end of the day Monday.  (that means two days off from now on!!!)
3. I’m still busting my butt at my internship, and quite frankly, I think it’s paying off!  I love being able to work on the big projects and be accountable for new ones :)
4. I’m still single as fuck, but I’m honestly at a point where if I barely have time to even hang out with my friends, let alone outside art projects, when the hell would I have time for a “boyfriend.” I need to learn the ways of the asexual, apparently.
5. I still haven’t moved all my artwork into the apartment, but that’s the big goal for this month, wish me luck! I’m hoping to be able to store a lot of it in my closet or in the little storage space on the balcony.
6. And, lastly, I’m starting a list of stuff I need to get (i.e. a desk, mainly) and another big goal this month is going through my closet and getting rid of a lot of stuff that I don’t wear or don’t need.  And, that’s what mothers are for ;)

Monthly Update: April

1. Kelly and I are moved in!  Although, I have a lot more boxes than she does to unpack and I still need to bring all my artwork from my Dad’s here, but I don’t know where I’m going to put it.
2. The apartment’s great! Except for this “staircase” issue… (They said they’d revamp it within 4 days, and didn’t, so that means another 2 that we can’t be here from 8a-7p…so inconvenient!)
3. I work everyday.  Mondays & Wednesdays: I’m organizing files at my Mom’s job.  Tuesdays and Thursdays: I’m at my design internship.  And, Fridays-Sundays: I’m serving.  It’s been about 3 weeks without a day off (except the one day we were moving) and I’m starting to hit a point, any suggestions on persevering through this rough patch?!  This should only last a little bit longer, maybe another month or so.  But as you can tell by the photo, I’m looking real exhausted.
4. Things are starting to look brighter lately, and honestly, I’m just thankful :)
5. However, my clothes are fitting a little snugger lately, so I’m thinking I’ve gain quite a few pounds from March to April, lol not sure though, because I don’t have a scale.  But whatever, I need to really focus on what I eat and hopefully start working out a little…
6. And lastly, my twenty-third birthday is coming up this month, and I want to take the day off before it and just enjoy a day, (it’s the 29th, a sunday, so I was thinking of just taking that saturday!) how’s that sound?

Monthly Update: March

1.  Well, I’ll start off with I’m dealing with a lot of bullshit I shouldn’t have to, however, I have some amazing friends around me that make it more tolerable to deal with.
2. Kelly and I were approved for an apartment!
3. We move out in 26 days, and I still have to organize and pack up my art room, I’m not even halfway done with packing up my own room, and I’ve bought most of the things I need for my own bathroom :)
4. I’m going to need some trucks to help move stuff on the 28th, but I have a few friends that still have my back that are going to help out!
5. Since I’ve been focusing on packing up and getting apartment stuff, I haven’t had time to even THINK about doing anything artistic, except for my internship stuff.
6. I’m still single, and I think I like it that way - because I’m dealing with more than I can handle, at the moment, why add to it?
7. Last but not least, I’m trying to stay positive, make money, and be awesome!

Monthly Update: February

• I still work at Alamo Drafthouse as a server, however, I am now the new design intern in their Creative Department, located at S.Lamar.
• I still weigh 139 lbs., but I have tried to cut all fast food (I think I’ve had fast food, twice last month?) and I am making healthier food choices.
• I’m still twenty-two and single, but I’ve realized that my “singleness” is more of a life-choice than a sense of rejection and I like it.
• Lately, I’ve been trying to think of things to sketch or actual “art pieces” to work on, and I’ve been creatively stumped.  Guess this is the next thing I really need to work on ;)

First off, here’s me.

1. I’m twenty-two years old, weighing in at 139 lbs.
2. I work at The Alamo Drafthouse as a server.
3. That’s not my cat, but her name is Bagheera.  She likes making biscuits.
4. I graduated The Art Institute of Austin, with a BFA in Graphic Design.
5. I find music and movies inspiring for my artwork, design, and creative writing.
6. Yes, that is a Darth Vader tattoo, lol
